My Sony A57 has a HDR function where it shoots 3 shots at different exposures in quick succession by changing the shutter speed, and then combines them in-camera to give a high dynamic range image. It’s quite useless but I thought I would try it with a moving subject and this is the result. Which I quite like in this particular case.
As an aside, for anyone getting into Sony cameras who want to maximise the dynamic range of their shots, I would recommend the built-in Dynamic Range Optimiser setting (set to 5) over the HDR setting. Sony have had a DRO setting for years now and I find it much more useful than the HDR setting. Or, better still, don’t listen to me, try both and decide for yourself.
